Fairbanks on flu restrictions starting Friday, December 20, 2019

Flu season update: Hospital visitor restrictions

Due to increased flu activity, Community is implementing temporary visitor restrictions beginning Friday, December 20. The restrictions were requested by local health department officials and will also be implemented at all other local hospitals.

The following restrictions will be implemented at Community Hospitals East, North, South, Anderson, Community Howard Regional Health, Community Heart and Vascular Hospital and Fairbanks:

  • No visitors with flu-like illness, fever or cough
  • No visitors under age 18
  • No visitors other than the patient’s immediate family, partner, significant other or spiritual counselor

Implementing the temporary visitor restrictions will help our hospitals maintain a healthy environment. Please ensure that visitors comply with the restrictions, and please also encourage all caregivers and guests to be vigilant about handwashing and covering coughs. The visitor restrictions will remain in place until health department officials determine they should be lifted based on diminished local flu activity.
