Hope Academy’s Year in Review

Hope Academy celebrated an amazing year. We are extremely proud of our faculty and students for all they accomplished in 2013, here are some highlights:

  • Two students represented Hope Academy at the Vex Robotics Competition and won The Judge’s Award
  • Hope received $1,000 from The Princesses of Peace 5k run/walk
  • Hope Academy senior, Patrick, shared his story of recovery with nearly 500 guests at the Fairbanks Circle of Hope Dinner
  • Three new members joined the Hope Academy Board of Directors
  • Nicholas H. Noyes, Jr. Memorial Foundation awarded Hope with a $10,000 grant for the STARR program
  • 17 students graduated in May and three students graduated in December
  • Hope Academy Principal Gale Stone, Dr. Mary Jo Ratterman and Dr. Sig Zielke presented at the Association of Recovery High Schools Conference in San Diego
  • Rew’s 3D art class created a Sukka and collected food for the St. Louis de Montfort food pantry
  • Principal Stone and three Hope Academy student representatives participated in a Red Ribbon Week convocation at Riverside Intermediate School for over 500 fifth and sixth graders
  • Hope Academy won the Fairbanks United Way of Central Indiana campaign challenge with 100% staff participation
  • Red Cross “Holiday Mail for Heroes” received 800 hand written cards from Hope Academy students
  • The December/January issue of Girls’ Life Magazine, a national publication, featured an article written from the perspective of a Hope Academy graduate
  • Rachelle Gardner, Chief Operating Officer at Hope Academy, participated in a live Twitter chat with Altarum Institute
  • In the second grading period, nine students reached 100 or more days of sobriety, two achieved six months, three reached nine months and one student celebrated a year
