Hope Academy Celebrates Fifth Graduation

INDIANAPOLIS – Hope Academy will honor five seniors during the school’s fifth commencement on Saturday, May 28, 2011 at 2pm in the Fairbanks Recovery Center. Hope Academy is a fully accredited, tuition-free, Indiana public charter high school that provides opportunities for academic achievement, sobriety and personal growth for students and their families.

The keynote speaker will be State Representative Robert Behning. Representative Behning has served in the Indiana State Legislature since 1992 and represents House District 91, which includes the counties of Marion, Morgan, and Hendricks. This year in the Indiana General Assembly, he was the chairman of education, where he worked to pass education reform which would fundamentally strengthen our education system. He continues to bring many years of experience, knowledge and passion to this position.

“I feel honored and privileged to speak to Hope Academy’s 2011 graduating class. The courage and commitment of these students, who have risen above great adversity, is moving and inspiring,” said Rep. Behning, Chairman of the House Education Committee. “Charter schools, such as Hope Academy, are wonderful additions to our education system and provides students a unique learning environment that is best suited for their needs.”

The ceremony will also include speeches from two previous Hope Academy graduates and this year’s valedictorian. All graduating seniors will be presented with an Indiana Department of Education Core 40 diploma. This year, 100 percent of the May 2011 graduates will be advancing to higher education.
