Fairbanks selects president and CEO

The Fairbanks Board of Directors has named Barbara B. Elliott as the president and CEO of Fairbanks and Hope Academy effective immediately. Elliott will focus on implementing the strategic plan and developing partnerships with community partners.

“Barb’s proven leadership and expertise will be of great value to Fairbanks and Hope Academy as we expand programming and services and identify opportunities to partner with other organizations,” said Board Chairman Faraz Abbasi. “We have confidence that Barb will continue to grow the organization while staying true to our mission.”

Elliott is eager to start in her new role at Fairbanks, an organization that has helped this community for more than 70 years.

“Fairbanks is recognized as a leader in addiction treatment and I am honored to lead an organization that serves an important need in our community. Last year, Fairbanks touched more than 20,000 lives through recovery services, community outreach, education, and support. One in 10 Americans struggles with the disease of addiction and only 10 percent of those receive the treatment they need,” Elliott said. “In partnership with our dedicated staff, board members and volunteers, I look forward to expanding our reach and serving more people who live with the disease of addiction.”

Barb joined Fairbanks in 2007 as the chief financial officer. She has more than 30 years of health care experience working for St. Vincent Health, Howard Community Hospital and Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Indiana. She is a member of Executive Women in Healthcare and serves on the board of Partners in Housing and is chair of the Finance Committee.
