Fairbanks nurses nominated in StarMedia’s Salute to Nurses
July 7, 2017
Fairbanks’ Shanna Smith and Rhonda Tabacchi were among the nominees for StarMedia’s 2017 Salute to Nurses.
Smith is a Registered Nurse in infection control and educational development at Fairbanks. Nursing Services Manager Andrea Weiler nominated her.
“Shanna has gone to great lengths educating our staff,” Weiler wrote in her nomination letter. “She works great with our team. Shanna has a special connection with our patients. She is able to understand what our patients are going through. Shanna has been a role model to all of the nurses on staff. She works hard to not only continue to educate the staff, but to educate herself. She has traveled to multiple conferences in order to expand her knowledge. Shanna is truly dedicated to the patients and staff at Fairbanks.”
Tabacchi is an RN and house supervisor. Smith nominated her as Nurse of the Year.
“Rhonda has been a great new asset to Fairbanks,” Smith wrote in her nomination letter. “She came in with a ton of new ideas to help better the nursing process in the facility. She is always trying to figure out why we do things the way we do them and how to better them. She has done nothing but make my job easier as the nurse educator!”
Less than half of 1 percent of the 115,741 practicing nurses in Indiana were nominated for StarMedia’s 2017 Salute to Nurses.
