Fairbanks Names Hospital Executive as President and CEO

Fairbanks has named hospital executive Kent L. Brown, FACHE as their new President and CEO. Brown was the former chief operating officer of Northside Medical Center in Youngstown, Ohio and was chosen after an extensive national search. Brown will focus on long term strategic planning and developing partnerships with other community partners.

Brown assumes his new position on June 1 and brings to Fairbanks more than 25 years of experience as a health care administrator. As the COO at Northside Medical Center, Brown implemented strategies and business practices to return the organization to financial stability and sustainability. Prior to his role with Northside Medical Center, Brown was the CEO of Rogue Valley Medical Center in Medford, Oregon where he led a 378-bed flagship hospital for Asante Health System during which time the hospital achieved 11 Healthgrades Quality Awards including the Distinguished Hospital Award for Clinical Excellence.

Brown is excited about his new role at Fairbanks and the opportunity to work with an organization that has served this community for 70 years.

“I am excited to bring my skills and experience to an organization that focuses on adults and adolescents who struggle with drug and alcohol addiction,” Brown said. “Fairbanks has a strong brand and is an important asset to this community. I look forward to joining the team.”

Fairbanks Board of Directors Chairman Faraz Abbasi believes that Brown’s experience will help lead Fairbanks toward goals of expansion to further serve the community.

“Kent is a talented strategist and has excellent leadership experience. His management style and vision for the future were critical attributes for selecting him as our next leader,” Abbasi said. “Fairbanks serves an important need in our community and we look forward to expanding our programs to serve more individuals in need of addiction treatment services.”

Brown earned his bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from the University of Illinois and his MBA from the University of Iowa. He is a veteran of the United States Navy and a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
