Fairbanks Golf Outing: Celebrating Recovery
September 17, 2014
Every year, the Fairbanks Alumni Association sponsors the Fairbanks Golf Outing to celebrate and bring awareness to recovery. For the past eight years, Don and his friends have faithfully participated in the golf outing.
“My friends and I participate every year and have made it a father and son outing,” Don said.
One of Don’s loved ones received treatment at Fairbanks and became a volunteer after getting involved in the recovery community. When Don heard about the event, he rallied a team.
“We felt really good about it, because it was for such a good cause,” Don said. “Fairbanks provides a valuable resource for our community and has helped so many people.”
This year’s outing has a lot of fun new contests for participants to win such as hole-in-one, putt-for-cash, longest drive and more.
Don really enjoys the games and prizes, but making connections is the best part.
“The teams are fun and there is a good feeling of comradery,” Don said. “We all have a link to Fairbanks and the recovery community in some way.”
This year’s golf outing will take place on Saturday, September 27 at the Ironwood Golf Club in Fishers with registration and breakfast starting at 8 a.m. Like Don, you can register a team of four for $320 or you can register individually for $80. The proceeds from the event support the Dr. Tim Kelly Patient Assistance Fund at Fairbanks for individuals who are uninsured, under insured or unable to pay for treatment.
