Congresswoman Susan Brooks and Fairbanks Co-Host Listening Session about Heroin Crisis with Local Treatment Providers

Congresswoman Brooks hosted an initial listening session, entitled “Understanding the Heroin Crisis,” with law enforcement officials in June. Recent data suggests heroin remains a serious problem for the state with increased use among younger adults proving to be particularly concerning.
Congresswoman Brooks is hosting a listening session that will bring together the addiction treatment community to discuss trends, best practices and resources for individuals who struggle with heroin addiction. The event will take place on Wednesday, October 29 with networking from 3:30 – 4 p.m. and listening session from 4 – 5 p.m. in the Fairbanks Recovery Center. Prior to the listening session, Congresswoman Brooks will take a tour of Hope Academy, the recovery high school at Fairbanks.
