What is Acupuncture Detoxification?

Since 1998, Fairbanks has been utilizing a practice known as Acupuncture Detoxification therapy. But what exactly is Acu Detox Therapy and how does it work?

Acu Detox, sponsored through the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association (NADA), is a national protocol that many health professionals have decided to include as an effective treatment for their patients.

“Acupuncture Detoxification is a safe, effective protocol for people stabilizing from chemical dependency,” Robin Parsons, Director of Adult Services said.

During Acu Detox, a trained clinician will apply five needles to designated areas of the ear, followed by an hour of relaxation for the patient.

Acu Detox has been reported to reduce stress, cravings and withdrawal symptoms. Commonly, patients are more relaxed, energized, can sleep better and have an increase in appetite after participating.

October 21 to October 23 Fairbanks will host an Acu Detox training, led by Parsons.

“We encourage anyone with patients of addiction or trauma to learn this protocol and incorporate it, because it can be a huge benefit to your population,” Parsons said.
