Legendary singer/songwriter Judy Collins will be the keynote speaker at the ninth annual Fairbanks Circle of Hope Dinner on Tuesday, June 22 at the Indianapolis Marriott Downtown.
The Fairbanks Circle of Hope Dinner raises awareness in the community about alcohol and drug addiction while honoring individuals and organizations for outstanding contributions related to research, education or treatment of drug and alcohol abuse and addiction. This year’s recipient of the Richard M. Fairbanks Circle of Hope Award is Indiana Wesleyan University in recognition of their academic programs for addictions counseling. Scott Long of Wabash County will also be honored with the Fairbanks Community Partnership Award.
Few artists have the staying power as music icon, Judy Collins. An artist who has reached the highest pinnacles of creative success with her top ten hits, Grammy nominations, gold and platinum status and best-selling books during the past 40 years, she has chronicled her life and the world through her gift of narration and song. But even as one of the most gifted artists of our time she has also faced adversity. As a keynote speaker, Collins breaks down the barriers of helplessness and secrecy to openly discuss the path of clarity and hope through her battle with alcoholism and depression.
Indiana Wesleyan University will receive the 2010 Richard Fairbanks Circle of Hope Award for the addictions counseling programs. The university is leading the way in preparing a new generation of counselor and leaders in the field of addiction through their undergraduate and master’s level programs, certificates and hands on experience.
The evening will begin at 6pm with a reception, with dinner beginning at 7pm. For information about tickets and the event visit www.fairbankscd.org.
