Hope Academy will honor its largest graduating class of twenty-two students during the school’s sixth commencement on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at 11am in the Fairbanks Recovery Center. Hope Academy is a fully accredited, tuition-free, Indiana public charter high school that provides opportunities for academic achievement, sobriety and personal growth for students and their families.
The keynote speaker is M. Karega Rausch. He is the Indianapolis Director of Stand for Children, a nonprofit whose mission is to ensure that all children, regardless of their background, graduate from high school prepared for, and with access to, a college education. Prior to his position with Stand for Children, he was the education director of Indianapolis Mayors, Bart Peterson and Greg Ballard. Karega has been instrumental in expanding the city's network of charter schools. He was responsible for executing each Mayor’s education initiatives, particularly the development, oversight, quality expansion and enhancement of the Mayor-sponsored charter schools.
The graduation ceremony will also include speeches from a previous Hope Academy graduate and this year’s valedictorian. All graduates will be presented with an Indiana Department of Education Core 40 diploma.
