Helene Cross, retiring President and CEO of Fairbanks, will be honored with the prestigious Richard M. Fairbanks Circle of Hope Award at the eleventh annual Fairbanks Circle of Hope Dinner, Tuesday, May 8 at the Indianapolis Marriott Downtown.
The Fairbanks Circle of Hope Dinner raises awareness in the community about alcohol and drug addiction while honoring individuals and organizations for outstanding contributions related to research, education or treatment of drug and alcohol abuse and addiction.
Helene Cross has served as the president and CEO of Fairbanks for eleven years. In September of this year she will retire. Under Helene’s leadership, Fairbanks has become a nationally recognized addiction treatment and recovery center. She is also responsible for Hope Academy, the only recovery high school in the Midwest.
Keynote speaker Chris Herren is a former NBA player who struggled with addiction for most of his basketball career. He has been drug and alcohol free for three and a half years and now shares his story of addiction and recovery with audiences in the hopes of reaching just one person and making a difference in their life. Most recently, Herren was featured in the Emmy-nominated ESPN Films documentary, Unguarded.
The evening will begin at 6pm with a reception and dinner at 7pm. Following Herren’s presentation, a book signing will be held for his book, Basketball Junkie.
