| Duties: |
The Substance Abuse Counselor is responsible for providing direct care in compliance with the Mission of Fairbanks, the JCAHO and other licensing agencies standards of care for adult offender/ inmates suffering from alcoholism, drug addiction and/or other chemical dependency issues. This position will be responsible for providing assessment, treatment planning, education, group counseling, individual counseling and case management support in conjunction with Marion County Community Corrections (MCCC) case managers at the MCCC- Duvall Residential Center/Electronic Monitoring Programs. |
| Minimum Requirements: |
Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, addictions and/or other human services field. Bachelor degree in human services with addiction certification and/or a minimum of 10 years working with a chemical dependency population may substitute for education.
Three (3) years experience working with chemically dependent individuals and families.
Expertise in 12-Step Programs, conducts both large and small groups, and must be effective in oral and written communication skills.
Prefer experience in a criminal justice environment.
Prefer State License/Certification (LMHC, LMFT, LCSW, CCSW, CSW) and Addiction Certification (CADAC, MAC, etc.).
Work Environment/Hazards on Jail Units. Hazards include risk to exposure to communicable diseases and risk of physical injury associated with a population with the potential to lose control.

Part Time, Monday - Friday, 20 hours per week, Evenings
