Broadway Entertainer, Ben Vereen, to speak at eighth annual Fairbanks Circle of Hope Dinner

INDIANAPOLIS – Broadway entertainer, Ben Vereen, will be the keynote speaker at the eighth annual Fairbanks Circle of Hope Dinner on May 4th, at the Indianapolis Marriott Downtown.

The Fairbanks Circle of Hope Dinner raises awareness in the community about alcohol and drug addiction while honoring individuals and organizations for outstanding contributions related to research, education or treatment of drug and alcohol abuse and addiction. This year’s recipient of the Circle of Hope Award is Norfolk Southern in recognition of their DARS (Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Services) program.

Ben Vereen is widely recognized for his success on Broadway and mainstream television, but over the years he has also become one of the nation’s most requested speakers. In 1987, Vereen’s addiction to drugs and alcohol spiraled out of control. Five years later he regained balance in his life and began his journey in recovery. On May 4th Ben Vereen will share his inspiring message at the Fairbanks Circle of Hope Dinner.

Fairbanks will also present the Richard M. Fairbanks Circle of Hope Award to Norfolk Southern, a railway transportation company, in recognition of their DARS (Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Services) program. The DARS program enables employees and their family members to resolve chemical dependence problems in order to work and live in a drug and alcohol-free environment. Since the creation of the DARS program in 1973, Norfolk Southern has assisted over 5,000 employees and family members in achieving sobriety.

The evening will begin at 6pm with a reception, with dinner beginning at 7pm. For information about tickets and event sponsorships, call 317.572.9303 or visit www.fairbankscd.org.
