INDIANAPOLIS – Bart Starr, former Green bay Packer and two-time Super Bowl MVP recipient will be the keynote speaker at the Fairbanks Fifth Annual Circle of Hope Dinner. The dinner will be held on May 15 at the Indianapolis Downtown Marriott. The Circle of Hope Dinner raises awareness in the community about alcohol and drug addiction while honoring people or organizations for outstanding contributions related to research, education or treatment of drug and alcohol abuse and addiction. The dinner also allows for people to hear the stories of hope and triumph of voices of recovery. Bart Starr, who lost his son to drug addiction, knows first-hand how drugs and alcohol affect young people. Starr has spent most of his time since retiring from the NFL assisting young boys in trouble at the Rawhide Boys Ranch, which he co-founded. The ranch assists boys by providing positive programming and mentoring to ensure a future full of positive outcomes and possibilities. The Circle of Hope Dinner will be hosted by Eric Halvorson of WISH-TV 8. The event begins at 6 p.m. with a reception, and the program will begin at 8 p.m. All proceeds from the dinner will go towards supporting the Recovery High School at Fairbanks, which opens on August 3.
