Fairbanks Addiction Education and Recovery Services at The Julian Center
Since 1975, women have chosen The Julian Center as a source and a place of refuge in dealing with life's challenges. The Julian Center is a unique, non-profit agency providing counseling, safe shelter and education for women and their families who are survivors of domestic violence and abuse. In Marion County alone, nearly 21,000 women are physically abused in domestic relationships each year. Children witness almost 75% of domestic violence attacks. In over fifty percent of all domestic violence cases, alcohol and drug abuse and addiction has played a part.
The Julian Center recognized an urgent need to begin the development of a substance abuse education and support program and called upon the expertise of Fairbanks. The Julian Center and Fairbanks discovered an alignment of a very special mission: serving women and their families in the community who face the challenges of domestic violence and substance abuse.
A vision becomes a reality
The Julian Center and Fairbanks offer alcohol and drug abuse education programs for women, children and families who are victims of domestic violence. Fairbanks' counseling services offer victims an opportunity to talk about issues specifically related to domestic violence and substance abuse.
