The 2006 recipients of the Richard M. Fairbanks Circle of Hope Award are Kim and Marissa Manlove. The award recognizes outstanding contributions related to research, education or treatment of drug and alcohol abuse and addiction.
Kim and Marissa Manlove have used their personal experience with addiction as an opportunity to educate adolescents, parents, educators and community members about drug and alcohol prevention and adolescent addiction treatment. Both Kim and Marissa have been instrumental in the development of several organizations and support groups, such as Parents for a Drug Free America, Fairbanks Adolescent Parent Support Group, Parent Advisory Board, National Inhalant Prevention Coalition and the “Vigil for Lost Promise.” Fairbanks honors Kim and Marissa Manlove for their courage and perseverance in educating the nation about alcohol and drug addiction treatment and recovery.
