Getting Help

Individuals who struggle with addiction often feel surrounded by external temptations, internal problems, devastated families, careers, school relationships and feelings of helplessness. At Fairbanks, we understand the challenges facing those who deal with addiction and abuse. It's what we do. Fairbanks professionals understand the chronic disease and have years of experience helping people move towards a better life through recovery.

Fairbanks is recognized as a leader in addictions treatment in the region. For more than 60 years, our programs have focused exclusively on treatment for alcohol and other drug abuse and addiction. Our medical director is one of the Midwest's few and leading addictionologists (medical doctors with special advanced training in the disease of addiction). Many of our staff members are former patients who have gone on to become credentialed professionals in the field. These dedicated professionals, understand alcohol and drug abuse and addiction on a number of levels.

When we focus our efforts and resources on addiction recovery, we are taking steps toward a better future not just for the men, women and adolescents who struggle with addiction, but for the families and communities in those individuals reside. Through a full range of services, a life-long commitment to patients, and an expert staff, Fairbanks can be the first step towards a new life and new hope.

What happens in the Access Center?

Assessment/Admitting for Individualized Care
When you're the one facing the disease of alcohol or drug abuse or addiction, long lists of programming, expertise and treatment plans can seem more overwhelming than reassuring. That's why we take all of our program assets, talk with each client and family individually, and devise a treatment plan that's just right for them. For our clients, recovery begins there and continues just one step at a time. In this simple way, our clients can rediscover hope, repair their families and reclaim their lives.

Individuals and families seeking help at Fairbanks enter into an assessment process first so that our professional counseling and medical staff can find out about your medical history, drug and alcohol use, how you are feeling now and what brought you to Fairbanks. Following the assessment, the team recommends an appropriate level of treatment care which can include either inpatient or outpatient services.

You will then meet with an admission specialist who will enroll you in the program recommended by the assessment counselor and medical staff member. This person will help you get better acquainted with the facility and your treatment program.
